At the age of 55, Lindamae Lawelawe Carillo Maldonado discovered the truth about her identity and the existence of her birth family. She was born on the island of Moloka‘i, on the peninsula of Kalaupapa, she was among the many children taken from their mothers at birth and placed for adoption. Reuniting with her newly discovered family, she embarks on a journey to uncover the truth behind their forced separation and sheds light on a little-known chapter of Hawaiian history.
